For electricians · 10 services set up

Half the enquiries are jobs you do not want.

Electrical work runs from a socket to a full rewire, and the enquiries arrive in the same inbox looking identical. The assistant establishes what the job actually is before it reaches you, so your day is not spent on the phone finding out.

A page for every job, in every town you cover.

Not one page listing everything you do. Somebody searching electrical safety certificate in your town lands on a page about exactly that, in that town, with your number on it.

Capped at 60 pages. Beyond that the towns with the least work in them are dropped rather than published thin, because a hundred near-identical pages is the spam Google penalises.

Your assistant

It asks what you would ask.

Not a chatbot that says somebody will be in touch. It establishes what the job is, how urgent it is and where, then either books it or hands it to you.

These are the actual questions set up for electricians, in the order it asks them.6 in total, and it stops as soon as it knows enough.

Safety

Some messages are not leads.

Water into electrics, burning smells and shocks are not enquiries. They get a script that says isolate and get out, sent before anything else happens.

Matched on the customer’s own words before any AI is involved, so an assistant that has been confused or talked into a strange mode still cannot miss it.

Sent word for word, before anything else

Please treat this as an emergency. Turn the electricity off at the consumer unit if you can reach it safely, get everyone out, and ring 999 if there is any smoke or fire. Do not use water on an electrical fire. I am letting the team know now.

4 rules like this are set up for electricians. Every one of them stops the sale and fetches you.

Trust

Your number, not just the badge.

Nearly every electrician shows the logo. Far fewer print the registration number, and the number is the one a careful customer copies into the register to check you are real.

A tidy consumer unit is the most persuasive picture in this trade.

A tidy consumer unit is the most persuasive photograph in this trade, because it is the one thing a customer can look at and judge without knowing anything about the work.

Questions

What electricians ask us.

What is an EICR and do I need one?

An electrical safety report on a whole property. Landlords in England have to have one every five years. Homeowners do not have to, but most people get one when buying or after about ten years.

How long does an EICR take?

Two to four hours for a typical house, longer for bigger properties or where the paperwork has gone missing.

My EICR came back unsatisfactory. What now?

It means something was found that needs putting right, coded C1, C2 or F1. The report lists each one. It does not mean the whole place needs rewiring, which is what most people assume.

Do I need a full rewire?

Usually not. Rewires get recommended far more often than they are needed. A consumer unit and some remedial work covers most older properties.

How much is a new fuse board?

Depends on the circuits and whether anything has to be put right first. It is one of the few jobs that can often be priced without a visit, so ask.

Are you Part P registered?

Anyone doing notifiable work in a home should be registered with a scheme like NICEIC or NAPIT. The registration number should be on the site and you can check it on the scheme's own website.
