For locksmiths · 10 services set up

Every enquiry is urgent and every one is lost in ten minutes.

Locksmithing is the purest version of the problem this product solves. Somebody standing outside their own front door does not leave a voicemail. They ring the next number, and the whole job is decided in the time it takes you to notice a missed call.

Your site

A page for every job, in every town you cover.

Not one page listing everything you do. Somebody searching emergency lockout in your town lands on a page about exactly that, in that town, with your number on it.

Capped at 70 pages. Beyond that the towns with the least work in them are dropped rather than published thin, because a hundred near-identical pages is the spam Google penalises.

Your assistant

It asks what you would ask.

Not a chatbot that says somebody will be in touch. It establishes what the job is, how urgent it is and where, then either books it or hands it to you.

These are the actual questions set up for locksmiths, in the order it asks them.5 in total, and it stops as soon as it knows enough.

Safety

Some messages are not leads.

A child or an animal locked in a car is not a booking. It gets a script that says ring 999 first, and it fires before any attempt to qualify the job.

Matched on the customer’s own words before any AI is involved, so an assistant that has been confused or talked into a strange mode still cannot miss it.

Sent word for word, before anything else

Please ring 999 and ask for the fire service right now. They attend this free, they get there faster than anyone, and they will not damage anything unnecessarily. Do that first. I am letting the team know as well, but 999 is the quicker route.

5 rules like this are set up for locksmiths. Every one of them stops the sale and fetches you.

Trust

Your number, not just the badge.

Nearly every locksmith shows the logo. Far fewer print the registration number, and the number is the one a careful customer copies into the register to check you are real.

Photographs

Do the first three and stop.

Less important here than in any other trade, because nobody chooses a locksmith by looking at photographs. Do the first three and stop.

Questions

What locksmiths ask us.

How quickly can you get to me?

Usually within the hour for a lockout, depending on where you are. You will get a text with a realistic time rather than an optimistic one.

Will you damage my door?

The aim is always non-destructive entry, which works on most locks. Where a lock genuinely has to be drilled you will be told the cost of replacing it before anything happens.

How much does it cost to get back in?

Most lockouts are £90 to £200 depending on the time and the lock. Beware of anyone quoting £39 on the phone, because that is a call-out fee and not the price.

Do you need proof I live there?

Yes. A driving licence, a bank card with a matching statement, or a tenancy agreement. It is not personal, it is how a locksmith avoids letting the wrong person into your home.

Are you open at night?

Whatever hours this business actually covers, which is what the site will show. Nobody here publishes 24 hours and then does not answer.

My uPVC door will not lock. Is that a lock problem?

Usually the multipoint mechanism inside the door rather than the barrel. It often gets worse over weeks before it fails completely, so it is worth doing before it strands you.
